Date Night in Ocean City ♥ Something Different

Forget Dinner and a Movie — This is How You Make It Count

Here’s the truth about most date night options in Ocean City: they’re loud, crowded, or the same thing you could do anywhere else. Dinner at a packed restaurant where you’re shouting over the table next to you. A boardwalk walk where you’re dodging families and teenagers. It’s fine — but it’s not the kind of date night that stays with you.

The best date nights in Ocean City happen when you step away from the crowds and get out on the water. A sunset cruise aboard Alyosha — a 50-foot sailing catamaran — is the kind of evening that feels different. Quiet. Romantic. Thoughtful. The kind of date night where you actually get to talk, where the setting does half the work, and where you leave thinking, “We should do this more often.” And if you want something even more unique try our moonlight cruise.

Whether you’re planning your first date night in Ocean City or your fiftieth anniversary, whether you’re here for a weekend getaway or looking for something better than the usual options — this is it.

If you want a great date night, but maybe a sunset cruise doesn’t work – try a moonlight cruise or any of our other trips.

Why a Sunset Sail is the Best Date Night Idea in Ocean City

If you’ve been scrolling through “date night ideas” lists trying to figure out what to do in Ocean City, here’s what makes a sunset sail different:

It's Nice And Quiet

Alyosha is capped at just 12 guests. There's real space to sit together without bumping elbows with strangers or shouting over an engine. When the sails go up, the engines go quiet — and it's just the two of you, the water, and one of the best sunsets on the Eastern Shore.

It's Not a Party Boat

This isn't a booze cruise with a DJ and 50 people you don't know. Alyosha is a real sailing vessel — one that's crossed oceans and logged over 50,000 nautical miles with Captain Steve at the helm. On a date night in Ocean City, that means you're spending your evening on something with character, history, and a story of its own.

It's the Kind of Thing You Remember

Dinner reservations are great. But a sunset over the Atlantic from the deck of a sailboat? That's the date night you're still talking about years later. It's the one that makes the trip. And honestly, it's the one your partner will appreciate you planning

New for 2026: Champagne & Dinner Options

We’ve partnered with Oyster & Scales — the restaurant right next to Alyosha at Olde Towne Marina — to make your date night or anniversary in Ocean City even more memorable:

Chilled Champagne Delivered to the Boat

Order a bottle of champagne when you book and it’ll be chilled and waiting aboard Alyosha just in time for your cruise. Toast the sunset without lifting a finger.

Dinner Reservations Before or After Your Sail

Book a table at Oyster & Scales as part of your Alyosha experience — turn your date night into a full evening out. Just look for these options when booking your trip.

A sunset sail followed by dinner on the water — or dinner first and then a cruise as the sun goes down. Either way, it’s the best date night in Ocean City.

How to Book a Milestone Experience

Most milestone experiences on Alyosha are private charters — the boat is yours. You can book by reserving all 12 seats on any of our listed experiences (and receive a 10% discount), or use our charter builder to design a completely custom trip. For burials at sea, weddings, and proposals, we recommend reaching out directly so we can coordinate the details with you personally.

Proposals

Looking for the perfect place to pop the question in Ocean City? A private sunset sail on Alyosha is about as good as it gets. Let us know the plan ahead of time — we’re very good at keeping secrets, and we’ll make sure the moment goes exactly how you’re picturing it.

Honeymoons & Babymoons

Any day that calls for something more than a dinner reservation. If you’re in Ocean City for a trip that matters — honeymoon, babymoon, Valentine’s weekend — spend an evening on the water together. It’s the kind of thing that turns a good trip into a great one.

Just Because

You don’t need a reason. Sometimes the best date night in Ocean City is the one you plan on a Tuesday because you felt like it.

Weather & Cancellation

Your date night cruise is weather dependent. If conditions aren’t right, we’ll cancel and issue a full refund — no questions asked. We need a minimum of 4 guests for the cruise to run, but don’t let that stop you from booking. We almost always hit the minimum, and if we don’t, we’ll find another time that works.

What to Bring

Feel free to bring your own drinks and snacks — including alcohol. Cans or plastic containers only (no glass on the boat). Alyosha has bottled water onboard.

Bring sunglasses and sunscreen for early evening, and a light layer if the nights have been cool — it’s always a few degrees cooler on the water.

A Note on Motion Sickness

Alyosha is a 50-foot catamaran—an incredibly stable platform that sails flat. On bay evenings when the sunset cruise goes behind Assateague, there’s virtually no motion at all. On ocean evenings, there may be gentle swells, but the captain only chooses the ocean route when conditions are calm and comfortable. If you’re prone to seasickness and want to be extra cautious, take a Bonine or Dramamine before we leave the dock—but know that we’re always making the call with your comfort in mind.

A good rule of thumb: if you’re comfortable walking on a boat dock, you’ll be comfortable on this sunset cruise.
