Trips to Baltimore

Captain Steve and Alyosha will not be headed to the US Virgin Islands this winter but we are cooking up some great overnight cruises for you to consider…

This fall, Sail Alyosha will offer two extended cruising weekends for those of you who are interested in getting a taste of catamaran cruising… The trips will include 6 tickets to the Baltimore Ravens game (October 22nd vs. Lions and November 12th vs. Browns) and the potential itinerary could include overnights at anchor in the Chesapeake Bay and/or in Annapolis.

These trips are bookable now online at the price of $2,000 per stateroom. (this covers all marina costs, game tickets, and breakfast and lunch for all days underway and travel to and from Baltimore.)  Contact Captain Steve directly if you are interested, preference will be given to those able to book the full boat (ie- able to find two other couples wanting to go!)

There are any number of ways to maximize the value up the 20 hour trek from Ocean City to Baltimore and back. What follows are several suggested itineraries, which can be selected by any group who books the entire boat. If the boat is mixed then we will decide on an itinerary after Captain Steve consults with each group.

Ocean City, MD to Baltimore

Three (3) possible itineraries

Friday, 4pm Departure from Ocean City, then sail 32nm (about 5 hours) to Cape Henlopen and anchor for the night under the stars and out of the Atlantic Ocean.

Saturday Morning, early 6am departure (captain only, passengers to wake at their leisure) through the Delaware Bay and into the C & D Canal. Transit up the Delaware Bay is about 60nm so we would arrive at the C & D Canal entrance at about 3pm. We can plan on picking up dinner at Schaefers Crab House in Chesapeake City and continuing on to anchor for the evening in the lovely Sassafras River by 7:30pm.

Sunday Morning, Game Day!, a 6am departure (again, Captain only)  will have Alyosha and all passengers arriving at Harborview Marina, within a ½ mile of M & T Bank stadium, by 11am. Kickoff for the game is 1pm!

Friday evening departure from Ocean City, Maryland @ 6pm with a sail up the coast and through the Delaware Bay and C & D Canal and into the north Chesapeake Bay overnight! We continue on through Saturday morning and early afternoon and arrive in Annapolis by 6pm on Saturday night. Water taxis are available for passengers to go ashore for an evening in Annapolis…

Sunday morning, a 7:30am departure from Annapolis puts us at Harborview Marina by 11am for all of the pre-game festivities. Kickoff for the game is 1pm!

Same as the above option, an overnight sail to kick things off, except for an arrival in Baltimore by about 4pm on Saturday night, where the boat will spend the night and passengers can enjoy the city.

Baltimore back to Ocean City, MD

Three (3) options for October 22nd

Sunday Evening: Depart Baltimore at approximately 5:30pm and sail down the Patapsco River into the Chesapeake Bay. Arrive in the Sassafras to anchor under the stars around 10pm.

Monday, an early (for the captain only!) departure at 6am will have us arriving in Ocean City by 9:30pm on Monday evening- we will be sure to catch a great sunset as we enter into the Atlantic Ocean and sail back down the coast…

Sunday Evening: a later departure from Baltimore (7pm) will give passengers time to have dinner in Baltimore after the game and soak in the stadium (post-victory?) vibes… Captain and crew will sail overnight through the Chesapeake Bay, C & D Canal and Delaware Bay. This will afford us the earliest arrival possible in Ocean City, Maryland at about 4pm on Monday afternoon…

Alyosha and passengers stay one more night in Baltimore and then depart around 7am for Ocean City on Monday morning.

Monday evening, after sailing through the north Chesapeake Bay and through the C & D Canal and down the Delaware Bay all day, we will take a break at Cape Henelopen and anchor for a final night under the stars.

Tuesday morning, we depart about 7am for a casual sail down the coast and a return to Ocean City, Maryland by noon on Tuesday.

For the Browns game on November 12th, there will be only one option, as Alyosha will stay in Baltimore for the winter: a direct trip via Steve’s Toyota Sequoia for all 6 passengers from Baltimore to Ocean City, Maryland. This can happen the night of the game (November 12th) or the morning after another night in Baltimore. (Monday, November 13th)
